Traditional stonework

Traditional stone walls require genuine lime mortar to stabilise and strengthen the integrity of the wall. Here, Demi our stonemason is usinf natural hydraulic lime mixed with Wareham washed sand and a traditional stonemason's trowel to force the fresh mortar into the joints.
She compacts the mortar and then wets the surface to prevent premature drying. This project was nominated for an award with Heritage Crafts UK.
